I finally decided to figure out what my MPG is for my car last night and was rather shocked to find out how abismle mine was...

I filled her to the brim, im now on the quarter tank (well, the last big mark on a classic) and the odometer has given me 150 miles...

than equates to 15ish MPG!!!!

min you, i was avareging 120ish for about 30-45 mins!!

stevoWRX 09 November 2003 09:26 PM

What car do you have ?

I drive MY03 WRX wagon ... average 25 mpg :(

£30 Optimax does average 210/220 miles .

what would scooby do 09 November 2003 09:30 PM

5 to 14mpg depending on how hard I drive it.

Emptied a full tank in 40 mins once..

jongould-work 09 November 2003 09:35 PM

classic WRX with sensible mods (about 280-300).

I knew it was juicy, but emptying half a tank in half hour felt a bit much...

sort of concludes my reasoning for selling it, as much as i love the car its not practical enough for me!!

Flat 4x4 09 November 2003 10:09 PM

MPG - 99MY UK - 24mpg over 25,000m and 8 months (215bhp Impreza)
- 02MY UK - 30mpg over 12,000m and 7 months (220bhp Octy4x4)

(John want practical, economical, quick and still a 4x4 Turbo?)

rotty 09 November 2003 11:29 PM

MY01 Bugeye , did loads of checks and the average was

22.4 mpg with air con on , 24.7 mpg with it off

CharlesW 10 November 2003 07:15 AM

WRX MY96
Normally 23-25 mpg. Can get up to 28 mpg on a motorway run - 4000 rpm. Track day 7-8 mpg!

jason4656 10 November 2003 07:36 AM

i was hoping my 30pounds worth of optimax had been syphened by someone lol, it looks like i was wrong, half a tank gone and i have only done 30miles around town, but i guess when its a new toy you have to show all your mates how fast it goes :) oh well i thought the v5 was bad, i guess this is the same, like my bro says, you can pay 14k for a car and then complain about the cost of running it!

StickyMicky 10 November 2003 07:58 AM

i am forced to drive at 2.5k revs max for this week so im hoeping to atctualy crack the 300 miles/tank barrier

just above 3/4 tank on the guage at the moment and sitting on about 55/60 miles

ThrustSSC 10 November 2003 08:50 AM

MY03 STi, lots of motorway work.

Worst to date is 17.03mpg, best is 23.04. Tracking it closely out of anal-retentive interest - email me if you want a copy of the spreadsheet.

Cheers,
Jeremy

Andrewj 10 November 2003 09:23 AM

MY99 Classic Turbo. 28 ish, with not too much thrashing. Like you, this, and servicing intervals and costs are forcing me to re-think. But what do you change it for?

IN THE STICKS 10 November 2003 09:26 AM

26 mpg ,always seems to average this , mind you I don't do town driving as I live 'In the sticks'(Standard MY99 turbo)

timmyjmy93wrx 10 November 2003 09:35 AM

my 1993 import wrx manages 150 miles on a tank!!!
Its just too tempting to boot it when you live near alot of straigh by pass !!!!

Harry_Boy 10 November 2003 09:37 AM

Standard UK spec MY02 WRX wagon. About 250 miles on a tank - well at least before the low fuel light comes on and my bottle goes..... :(

Edmund 10 November 2003 10:57 AM

765 miles from 50 litres of diesel, bit of topic but I could not resist lol

16vmarc 10 November 2003 11:17 AM

25ish doesnt bother me tho! :D

Silvafox 10 November 2003 11:29 AM

My STI 7 is awful I reckon. Filled to the brim about £38 it'll only go about 200'ish until lights nearly on. Worst yet is 185, best is 225. Cr*p in my opinion.

JayTee 10 November 2003 12:34 PM

I used to get a standard 20mpg in my 2000 X uk spec
I was getting a steady 27mpg :D out of my 1999 V WRX...
...but this was probably due to it running lean & explains why the engine went BANG. :(

I quick warning to anyone who is getting good MPG, get your MAF sensor checked to make sure your not running too lean...

...The lower MPG will be cheaper than a new engine ;)

Dazza's-STi 10 November 2003 12:43 PM

19 around town and 30 on mway!

brin_e 10 November 2003 12:54 PM

Dont whinge lads!!
Horsepower = crap fuel economy
Horsepower = big fun grins!
No Horsepower = good fuel economy
No Horsepower = buy a Polo and wear a hat

My PPP'ed 03 STi is grim but its better than my previous ride, a chevy cobra that i had down to 5mpg!!

Wouldnt que up at the Optimax pump with anything else now!!

ScoobyJawa 10 November 2003 12:55 PM

17.5 normally, a little more on a run.

Its not a scoob though ;)

AJFleming 10 November 2003 02:01 PM

Autosportif tell me the car has 380bhp/385f/lb torque.
Just got 13.4mpg on the last test although that was being driven hard 75% of the time and with a couple of minutes worth of anti-lag :D

My RX7, driven hard 50% of the time would do 8.6mpg.

My stage 1 (400bhp) Skyline GTR's would average 15-20mpg.

My 615bhp Skyline is not worth even thinking about - ITS BAD.

My old Integra Type R DC2 - would do 25-30mpg the WHOLE TIME!! how good is that!
