I've been looking into getting a Pace charge cooler from PTS, but does anyone have any experience in fitting and living with one?

I like the idea, but can anyone give their honest opinion of this modification on an Impreza?

Cheers
Andy

Andy,

I looked into this product, quite a few months ago.Spoke to Pace about it,but they really didn't know what the results/benifits PTS had got. When I spoke to PTS, they couldn't tell me much either. They were trying to sell me a secondhand unit.Suposed to have come from a damaged car.Turned out the guy who had it fitted, kicked it back !!.I'm sure he's on this list !!!!.Are PTS still trying to sell the 'secondhand' one ?.

I think more R&D needed to go into the product,to get it right. When they're correctly spec'ed,they work very well.

PTS were charging about £800/1k fitted,I'd look at one of the Jap/Aus' after market intercoolers.

Mark.

Peter Mc Alpine has some interseting results on the following URL:
http://www.ozemail.com.au/~petermca/testing/testing.htm

Basically the standard UK/ Australian WRX intercooler is 84.2% efficient.

I know who it was http://bbs.sidc.co.uk/smile.gif Put it this way I believe that in the end he was paid 100 quid for the troubles he encountered.

PTS tried to sell me the same charge cooler for £700 - they must like me I suppose.
If you talk to David Power at Power Engineering he can explain to you just how efficient the STi Intercooler is.
They have done much testing on it and were amazed at the efficiency of the unit.
I don't think there would be much of a gain to be had with the charge cooler, over the STi intercooler - perhaps an Aquamist water spray would be a better bet. Again have a chat with Dave.

Where I come from ... the weather is very humid. Charge air temp. reaches ....85C

I used Aquamist water injection to bring the charge air temp. down. Is very effective and good to have one.

Check out the website ...www.aquamist.co.uk

I don't think I am giving any secrets away by saying the person R19KET refers to is firefox.

He posted something about this very subject in one of the other forums very recently. He wasn't happy with the quality I think.

How about we quote temp drop on our itntercoolers? Sounds like another game we can play?

Has anybody else noticed that just about every thread has a comment from BPM, which is usually in the form of an advert?:-)
