We use NetRC to remote control the persons PC :)

Why do you need to dial-up to use PCAnywhere if you're on the same network ?

Frequently need to share Exel files with remote locations over a network & discuss. Currently one person opens with write access & the other with read only & you talk through the changes & hope they understand.
Is there anyway you could genuinely share the file so that they could follow my screen & see exactly what I'm doing to it.
PC anywhere would do this but there must be a better way than dialing up over a land line to do it !

The last thing I want is dial up ! Where can I get from & would it be overkill for what I want to do ?

Thanks,

D

Hello Dunk ;)

PCAnywhere can be used via IP over your current network, no need to dial up :) We use NetRC becuase it much lighter for simple remote control. It just needs the host installed on the PC's and the Viewer on yours. There are loads of similar products on the market which can be had from any software supplier.

NetRC is by BindView, BTW, not sure if its still a supported product, so PCAnywhere may be the way to go :)

Dunk,

You need a 'whiteboard' app. which lets people collaboratively work together on the same document/spreadsheet, Im pretty sure M$ netmeeting aross a LAN/WAN does this but cant be sure.

Netmeeting looks like the bunny for me.
Thanks for the input.
