Took this last week after my first use of the Wax Wizard, I'd deliberated for about 6 months about spending over £50 on car cleaning stuff. But I thought what the hell everyone seems to rave about the stuff so lets try it.....

Evo kid.....LOL
Thanks for the compliments guys.BTW, I got the clay bar thingy & was really impressed with its perfomance. H. |
What does this clay bar do then?
Phil |
Looks like a big mars bar shaped piece of green blue tak. Comes with a spray bottle of windolene type stuff (this is the lubricant)
Once your car is cleaned, you go over the paintwork with the clay bar, spraying a bit of the lubricant first. It takes off all the dirt & oxidised paint that washing doesn't get off. I was surprised how much came off...and it does this without damaging the paintwork. Paint feels silky smooth once you've done this and then comes up a treat when sealed & waxed. H. |

Well you learn something every day Thanks Phil |

The first time.....beause the car was 12 months old before it got a proper treatment.... it took me ages. Also a factor in this was that I had never used the products before.
I reckon it must have took me something like 6 hours!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif But, since then, the car does clean really quickly...15 mins or so. When you feel like adding some more wax coat to the paint you can take as long as you want... but you can do this in about 45mins to an hour for the whole car. Biggest job is still cleaning the alloys, but if you wax them in the first place they are easier to clean. The clay bar bit took ages the first time because the whole car needed going over. Now it is only necessary for the odd stubborn bits of grime/tar....and it is very effective. Other good thing is I rekon the WW stuff will last me about 6 months....,so the cost ain't so bad really. Hi H,
With the clay bar, did you find that it would stick to the car at all, and leaving bits of clay on the paint? Did it feel sticky at all whilst rubbing, even with the lubrication? Is it supposed to be sticky or should it slide easy? I have some from Meguiars, but I'm a little scared to use it in case I stuff up the paint, hence the questions. Cheers, Wrexy |
There seems like there is no friction between clay bar & paint when you se the lubricant stuff......but it does bring off the little bits of dirt you were aiming at. IT you don't use the lubricant it 'grips' the paint and the clay kind of smears off....that's when you know you need to spray some more I suppose.
I'm no expert, only used the thing once, but it worked for me. WW stuff claimed to be 100% safe on paint, besides I can't think of a single area where I have got it wrong and made the car paint look worse. |
Hi H,
Thanks for the info m8. I had tried a little on one section, just to see what it was like. I also experienced the grippy feel, sprayed some more lube and you're right, it felt like there was no contact. I thought that since it felt like there was no contact, it would not be doing anything so I gave up. I thought I was doing something wrong, but now, after reading your reply, I have realised that it works like that. I'm happy again http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif Cheers, Wrexy. |
