Does anyone know if it is possible to fit 215/45-17 tyres onto the prodrive speedline alloys on a classic (my99) & are there any adverse affects on the handling ?
car is currently running on the std 205/45-17 p zeros
The reason I am asking it is only £4 more (per tyre) for the goodyear f1 gsd3 215/45-17 over the f1 gsd3 215/40-17.
As my speedo reads over I thought this would be a move in the right direction in terms of accurate speedo readings.
Thanks, Mike.

I changed from 205/45/17s because I didn't like Pirellis. I meant to get 215/40s but, due to a lack of clarity on my part, they fitted 215/45s - which are absolutely fine BTW.

I wanted 40s because the lower side wall should be stiffer which is a good thing.

45s are a bit bigger than standard, 40s a bit smaller. This means your speedo will underread on 45s and overread on 40s.

Other than that, I don't think there are any problems, but I'm sure that someone will enlighten us if theres anything else to consider.... :)

Thanks for the reply Sam, The speedo reading is not a problem as it over reads at the moment. Just another couple of questions, is your car lowered, if so by how much ? Are you using the prodrive alloys, if not do you know what offset you have on your wheels ?
the last thing I want to do is spend a load of dosh on new tyres only to find I have to change them because they are rubbing.

No, the car has standard suspension and the factory option Prodrive 17s. I've had no problems at all with the 215/45s, I just wonder if the 40s would handle a bit better on the limit.....
