I have a 98 standard UK spec car and am getting an occasional hesitation. This is not a mild hesitation but a complete engine cut at full power that throws you forward against the belts.

It only happens when the engine is warm and accelerating at from mid revs (3500 ish). It seems worse under heavy load when towing but will happen without a tow load.

It seems to be getting worse and as it can also happen when overtaking it is a potential danger to the underwear.

Any one have any ideas?

Matt,

My MY00 has a similar problem when you change up at high revs 5000+. I've been pointed into the direction of the purge valve ??? It's going in for its 1 Year service next week, so I may have some more info then.

You may find other threads related to your problem if you try a search under 'drivetrain'.

Sounds like the Overboost cut kicking into me. It's a bit like hitting a brickwall.

Happens when the boost level reaches about 1.2bar (I may be wrong with this figure).

Do a search on "overboost", wel talked about subject.

Of courses I may be wrong, but its worth looking at those threads.
