Hows it going people?

This is the first time i have used this site but it seems to used heaps so i was wondering if you people could help me as it seems you are all a friendly bunch?

I am considering on buying the STI Type R  but i was wondering how much MPG the type R (standard) gets or even how much miles to a tank of fuel because i have tried and looked through the internet for the spec of the car but i just can't find it. I just want to see how thirsty it is and reliability???? The spec im looking for is the version 4 or 5 because it has the 310bhp.

But if anyone can give me any help and parts to look out for on the car or suggest on any other model to go for instead of the type r it would be appreciated!

P.S is there much difference between the 280bhp and 310bhp

Cheers

Jimmy-bob ;)

These cars do not have 310bhp. A standard, run-in STi5 Type R will do just under 300bhp on 100/101 octane fuel.

Anyway, slightly moot point aside, it's very difficult to give you a solid guideline of what your fuel economy is likely to be as it varies hugely with the type of driving you do.

As a best case scenario, you may get 27-28mpg on the motorway if you drive very steadily. If you have a bit of fun, it'll drop into the teens very easily, and you would see single figures on the track. If you work somewhere between those two extremes depending on your driving profile, you'll be in the ballpark.

The best ive managed in my STi 4 Type R is 317 miles to a tank which equates to about 31 mpg but that was on a steady sensible run

Probably no help but just a pointer :D

i use my STI 6 for work and it averages 250 miles to the tank on most occasions , but like it's been said before boot it and watch that needle drop !!!!

Thanks people,

That helps a lot cause it gives me an idea on how much notes i'll spend. All i need now is to buy one, well i hope cause the car is class. Would it make a lot of difference on mpg if i put on an full HKS exhaust and filter. Or doe's any one reckon on any other make to give me a real deep note from the car?
