I know one or two members have had hot starting problems with the revs dropping after start and eventually cutting out. Has anyone had it fixed? I seem to be heading that way although if I put my air-con on whilst it is struggling wverything stabilises O.K.

I had a similar problem with my old MY97 car two summers ago.

It always happened when I parked it in the sun for 8 hours. Someone suggested I park in the shade, as it may have been the sun evapourating the fuel!

Believe it or not, it worked, and I now try to find a space where the bonnet is shaded for most of the day.

Worth a go??

Cheers

There's a fuel temp thermistor in the fuel rail that sends ECU data on fuel temp in hot start situations, so ECU can adjust injector opening durations or cancel cold start fueling. A failed one or broken/poor connection will cause very rich fueling on start-up when hot. Could be that?? Or as Andy says fuel evaporation?
