Just had a look at drivethedeal.com to see their price for a STi8 , they quote £22950 or £23200 with metallic/mica , I thought mica was free on the STi , I have one on order and the dealer hasn't charged me for it , any ideas ?

Get down to Well Lane and buy an import, its the same car.

Just been for a test drive & negociations re: a new Honda Civic Type-R. In short, i was fairly impressed by it, but for the 16.8k (inc a/c) the salesman wouldnt budge from - made it seem fairly bad value :( (trading in my 3yr old 172mk1 for 6.8k)

I noticed a few ad's for a WRX e.g. motorpoint, for 16.6k + say £500 for a full 3yr warrenty - this 17.1k seems much better value considering the car...

Anyhow i was wondering if anyone could point me to any reputable source of a 03WRX for anything less or similar (or closer N London!!)

Do a search for Motorpoint on here and then see what you think. In short after personal dealings with them I would not touch them for all the tea in china.

I have know the owner for many years, have had several cars from them and always get great service. You have lost nothing by giving them a call.

Just cancelled my order at motorpoint this week as delivery date kept changin. they should have two comin in though as me and Dick Dastardly backed out.
They are from Malta apparently which means they cant have Prodrive upgrade. but as my post "Cyprus import Scooby turbo" (should be on page 2 or 3 by now)states there are other options. The actual price you will pay is £16599 + fees £300 ish + Cat 1 alarm £350 ish + tracker £300 ish + warranty £700 ish.
About £18300 in total if you have alarm and tracker that is ! Still a savin on UK version. Read the threads though then make a decision !!!

Go to Trade Sales in slough for an Import @ £17K - have to check with them on exact spec...or go for a less than yar old Bug Eye for around 15.5/16.

I chose 1 year old WRX for 16K rather than risk import. Came with RAC Trackstar in the price and 10K service done, 8K miles tho.

Already been back to Subaru dealer for some odds and sods, they put all right for me FOC and valated the car too!! Made it worthwhile to me!

£18300 isn't enough of a saving, drivethedeal.com are quoting £18650 for a UK supplied Car, OK so it'll be missing the Tracker.

Now where did I put my cheque book.....must buy one these....

I'm paying £18k from Well Lane - but there is no waiting involved...and I'm getting £1k more than a main dealer offered me for my car. I've just got to source myself a set of bucket seats...
Are some dealers refusing to service imports? Anyone actually had trouble? cos my old(current) car is a Golf GT TDI - the VW dealer bent over backwards to be helpful - don't forget that dealers make lots of cash from servicing...

Just make sure you register it with a letter to IM, very important and follow the service schedule in the service book to the letter.

My Dutch imports first service was at 3,000 miles which is different to the UK

Points to note: EU Imports don’t have side impact airbags in the seat or locking wheel nuts.

Thing is you can pick up a UK main dealer car thats three months old for just over £17k, so dont bother with imports.

I've seen a number of UK demo WRX 03's going for £17995 from Subaru dealers.

Why not do a search on the Subaru website then phone a few dealers. Even better if you can sell the Clio privately first but if they are advertising at £17995 it may mean that they will still be prepared to sweeten the deal on your trade in ?

An alternative to unofficial sources

Just collected a nice new 03 WRX from a dealer £18,900 (6700 on the clio). Ordered & collected in 5 days! Most impressed at the moment - 965 more miles before the crucial 1000.

Well chuffed atm - only downside is they seem to have given it an over enthusiatic wash - the inside of the boot is a little damp... but i can sort this out tomorrow np.
