I've got Kappa Perfect 6.1's in my wagon. There is enough space in the doors to fit with the electric windows working, and the original door card on..... (this is a MY95 WRX Wagon)

When I finally get my internet access back I'll upload some pics.....My sub is in a very similar location to chairks.

I agree with what was said, they do have a bright sound (I use the maximum tweeter attenuation) but I like em a lot.

Anybody any experience of these speakers, the Infinity Perfect 6.1 165/160mm Alu component speakers ? I'm currently Dynamatting my entire interior, and want to start thinking about what to upgrade. I'd rather go for simple, high-end equipment rather than wizz-bang effects or go-faster displays : SQ is the ideal for me.

Music types varied, I prefer a slightly "bright" sound to my music, and I'll be working out a woofer solution (easier said than done in a Wagon though).

Sub in a wagon is a hell of a lot easier than in a saloon - I'm running a single Diamond Audio M6 12" DVC and it's fantastic. Bass is a lot easier to get in large amounts in a wagon using a small box.

Thanks Nick - the problem I've got with the bass is, I need to keep the boost space free for when the missus decides she's wants a trip to B&Q/furniture shop/New Forest camp sites etc. ;) Did consider wether the shallow depth bass woofer you can get are any good, also wondered what size of speaker I could get into the rear speaker locations above the suspension turrets (could make up my own mounting brackets etc).

I'm basially looking to install 2 component speakers and a high-end amp to run the front - rear would probably deal with bass. Still trying to decide on the DIN unit, as well.... lol.

I've installed my 12" sub in a .8 cu ft box behind the passenger side suspension strut.

It uses not a lot of bootspace, so meets my needs, and sounds pretty good. It's mostly MDF with fibreglass over the curvy bit of the wheel arch

Looks very neat : does the shape and volume of the enclosure help/hinder the sub's performance ?

Just found a couple of reviews of the 6.1 components : general consensus seems to be that they are quite "bright", very strong but mid-bass not quite as strong with some DSP/location adjustments. Mounting depth sounds like it could be a problem as well.

Think they'll go into the "maybe" list, was hoping for equal levels of mid bass/treble.

The shape of the box purely to use the smallest amount of bootspace to give me the space I needed and fit in the car :D . The front/rear faces are not parallel, which is about my only concession to box design other than volume ;)

Some speaker designs need special consideration - sealed boxes do have a recommended "magic ratio" of dimensions but no box that I've built has been anywhere near to 'em. I tend to take a pragmatic view to making things fit. Purists would probably balk at the design above.

The slight restriction that I did have in woofer choice was the mounting depth, which is limited to about 8". That ruled out the JL 12w6v2 or W7 that I was thinking of, but as it turns out I'm very happy with the Diamond.

The wagon comes complete with a built in amp rack. Which is nice. Pics when I get a chance :D

Gameman, i've listen to the perfects are they are Awesome. the mid is superb but like whatever you read, the tweeters are a bit on the bright side.

i think you will struggle with fitting them too, cos they have require at least 74mil or summin to mount, while the door as stock allows for 68mil. any spacer will push onto the door card, so you may need custom door builds to get it done...

Perfect 6s have the jumper on the crossover to vary the tweeter levels. Bass is actually pretty good from what I recall. Drivers are a decent size, and prob hard to mount.

Thanks for the reply, would be very interested in seeing how easily they went in. Did you need any MDF spacers ? (I presume you did).

Still can't decide what to do for though, although my preference is for a bright sound I also looking for some significant bass up front. ;)

I had these in my MY99 Saloon and they will fit, but it is quite tight!!!!
