Hi,

Can anyone recommend an image conversion utility that'll convert say 20 images in one go from .bmp to .jpg and preferably free?

http://www.imagemagick.org/ did the job for me. A bit tricky if you are not comfortable with the command line, but it's Open Source. Used it for the galleries of me wedding photos.

I use Jpeg File Explorer which is shareware and easy to use for what you need it for.
