Hi there

I'm getting this annoying squeaking noise from my MY97 UK scoob from the front left passenger seat. I always does it when the car is on the move with someone sat in the seat. If no one is sat in the seat, then the squeak is much less regular.

It's seems to have got a lot worse in the last couple of weeks and it hasn't bothered me until now.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards

SCoomby!

Deepest sympathy - I have the same problem.
It happens whenever I go round bends rather quickly, accelerate or brake a bit hard - oh and by coincidence, when the wife is sitting in that seat !!!!! nuff said ?

Sorry Steven
Its been one of those weeks and mild hysteria is setting in.
Serious suggestion - get someone to sit in the front seat + someone in the rear seat and have the person in the rear seat find the exact source of the squeek. Its what I let the garage do when I had an annoying rattle from what I thought was the rear n/s door - which turned out to be the hatch door ! (It was under warranty).

More seriously then, it sounds like it could be as simple as the supports on the bottom of the seat.

Taking the seat out is extremely simple. There's two bolts at the front which are visible, coupled with two bolts at the back under plastic trims. The trims just pull off - slide em backwards.

I'd suggest taking the seat out and checking for obvious signs of wear where the supports attach to the subframe. You may find that they're full of "bits" that have worn off over time, in which case a clean and a blast of some lubricant/vaseline may do the trick?

The bolts on the seat are, IIRC, 13mm.

Thanks for the replies.

I will take out the seat over Xmas week off and have a look (if the wife will let me http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif )

Steven

Got exactly the same problem on my MY2000 car. Source located as seat pivots. Lubricating them has had no effect. Dealer says he will fit new seat under warranty...
