I'm thinking about getting a towbar fitted to my MY 98 4dr and no, its not for a caravan - its for a boat. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
Anyone any views on brands, prices etc? Thanks G |
Non removable with single electrics @ £315.23 (inc VAT) supplied by Lancaster 7Oaks at 1st reg July 99.
Nice tow-ball cover with Subaru logo http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif (& thats the last thing quite a few cars see as I overtake 'em http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif ) http://www.goorey.com/Pics/stick-5.jpg http://www.goorey.com/Pics/ptmw-3.JPG http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Puff The Magic Wagon! Anyone had any experience of the detatchable one? The price differential doesn't seem too great? Are the towing weights the same for both designs?

The towing weight applies to the car not the towbar. Therefore if you are sold a towbar that is not suitable for the job...
(Yes, I know they might have an actual physical differential in towing capacity, but that should exceed that of the vehicle to which they are fitted.) |
Edworthy's in Aylesbury fitted mine (Witter) for less than £200 with double electrics.

I had a MY98 4 door fitted with a removable twin electrics towbar by Lancaster Pangbourne. Certainly worked very well and looked great without the tow hook on. Managed to tow a Caterham 7 back and forward to the Nurburgring on several occasions without any probs. Towed quite happily at 100mph on the motorway (twin axle, braked trailer). Will be fitting the same to my MY00.
