Hi

Just had my MY00 impreza Turbo for a week now. Very pleased with it. Had the 1000 mile service done at Mill Lane Basingstoke last saturday, now seems smoother but has lost that kick in the back acceleration I had before the service. Any ideas what it might be.. Also have a grand to spend and thought you would all like to help me spend it. What mods do yopu recommend?

Thanks

JP

Scoobs,

When you say "now seems smoother but has lost that kick in the back acceleration I had before the service" are you implying that you took the car above 4000 RPM before the 1000 mile service??

Joey

No. Ok maybe once but only for a very short period and by then it had done 800+ miles. I had a 1.6 zetec focus before this so even at run in speeds it was still way way quicker.

Thanks

JP

A grand eh? Hmmmm.......
Get a full cat-less exhaust system (if you like the sound!). Cost will vary but you can get a full Scorpion system for around £550 fitted.
An induction kit like the K&N will improve throttle response and set you back £70.
Eibach springs are another top mod and will set you back another £200 fitted.
Then go to Powerstation and get the bump-steer mod which costs £120.
With the other £60 take your missus out for a meal to sweeten her up a bit! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif
Coincedentally, my car has all of the above! Alternatively, if you intend going on track, forget all the above for now, save some more dosh, and buy some AP brakes. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

Thanks for the reply.. One concern.. This is a company car, which is great as they pay my fuel bill too, but I need to keep the Warranty intact. Also although I would love and Exhaust system that sounds like a WRC I don't think my boss would, so some comprimise is probibly going to have to be made between noise level and performance

scoobs,

Reverse your car into a high kerb but make sure you only damage the backbox. Then tell the boss it is cheaper to buy a ScoobySport stainless steel back box than the pukka mild steel one from a Subaru dealer.

I assume you have done this!! Might at least wait until I have had the car two weeks before I make myself look a prat at work. I assume an SS backbox is worth looking a prat at work for. If I did this I would be ribbed for many a day.

Sound idea though.

scoobs,

Sorry mate, I was joking, I wouldn't really do this. I don't even have a Scooby http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I would use a big hammer and maybe a cold chisel or two to smash the crap out of the back box, but make it look like I had reversed into a curb. You don't want to risk damaging the paint work now http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

And hey, whats a little bit of embarrasment for a nice sounding Scooby ?

Cheers

Are the mods that Stef mentioned worth doing on a non turbo Impreza Sports?

Andy Tang 17 November 2000 09:18 AM

Scoobs,

If you want to keep your warranty in tact, then the only modification really worth doing is the Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP).

I personally went for a ScoobySport backbox, downpipe, a Magnex mid-section, RamPod air inductor, the Prodrive WRC spoiler and the Prodrive settings, on my MY99 car.

I got the garage to fit all of that on the car, before I drove it off the forecourt!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

And since then, I've added the ScoobySport MIM alloy wheels and ScoobySport driving lamps. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

If you want to know anymore, try asking Charles Figgins (service manager) at Mill Lane Engineering, as they do all the servicing, and know all about the car!!! Apparently if you mention my name, he will start rolling out power figures and modifications!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

You could do a lot worse, than talk to Charles about what modifcations are worthwhile!!

I have seen some very individual body styling and exhaust system from the following web site:
