Just got the biggest fright of my Scooby life!!! Driving alone a road and pulling out to over take three cars I put it to the red line in 2nd gear, due to a small lapse in concentration I hit the limiter rather hard and the car give a back fire and then lost power and died!!! I thought I had a blown my engine.

Pulled over and thought my time and come. Tried the key and to my surprise the engine turned, it did not start but it turned. Called my Father to come and out and tow me home and and tried the engine again.....same result, engine turned but would not start.

By the time my Dad arrived 10 minutes later I tried again and this time the car started and burst into life.

The question is what exactly happened:
- Is this a freak one off thing?
- Does the ECU have some kind of intelligent inbuilt protection to stop muppets like me wrecking cars?
- Does the UNI-chip have some kind of protection?

I was just wondering if anybody else has experienced anything like this before and could someone explain what has happened.

Cheers
Mark

Whats your car and is the ECU the only mod?

Is it still running?

I have done the same but without the backfire
and sequelae. Too much enthusiasm or too much tea, I'm not sure

Yes the car is still running.

The only modifications is the UNI-chip and a full mongoose systems.

I am still don't understand what happened??

MY UK94 with a full mongoose system pops and crackles like hell when you hit the limiter ~ but thats all it does....pop and bang until you either back off or change up.

On the Harewood Hillclimb there's one bend where I ALWAYS run it on the limiter, cos 3rd is just a waste of time...

Never had anything strange like that http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif
