mattski 05 November 2000 01:18 PM

sourob, where are you...must be Coventry
area?

I get mine serviced at Roger Clarke Motorsport in Leicester, they did a
very reasonable cambelt change and
service a while ago.

The drive out there is great btw..loads
of good backlanes and so forth and you
nearly always see another 'preza or EVO
blatting around too :O)

sourob 05 November 2000 05:26 PM

Mattski, yep not far from Nuneaton. As regards service apparently it is in the contract that service must be done at main dealer http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/mad.gif

sunilp 05 November 2000 06:33 PM

Why, MY96 has no warranty left so why bother with a main dealer. What sort of contract are you handcuffed into - a 4year PCP/lease?

Sunil

sourob 06 November 2000 09:16 PM

Sunilp, yep that seems to be the case(I just needed a scoob at the time)I am paying £238 a month i put £3,500 as deposit and i pay a sum after 3 years.I am considering getting a new one depending on monthly payments etc. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/confused.gif

Excellent advice, get the work done early and avoid the inflation.

Just clocked 25k if I book for a 60,000 mile service just think how much I'll be saving http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

AND if you're going to be pedantic, do it properly 18.57142% I believe http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/tongue.gif

Cheers Banshi, goddamn accountants http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif Anyway i am totally gutted today,i had a tiny bump(OR SO IT SEEMED) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gifnow carstins want £4oo labour and £200 parts!! Anyone know of a decent non subaru garage in the Nuneaton/coventry area??Cheers.Soula.dia8.

sunilp 07 November 2000 08:07 PM

Banshi, you failed to see that i did put 1dp next to my post, that means "to one decimal place". You muppets must learn that absolute detail is irrelevant and immaterial in this instance, the original post was to 0dp and and, in fact, rounded to the nearest 10, and therefore also irrelevant!

Secondly, why find out about prices a month early if you dont want to get the work done. ?
Read the post again, the reason it was delayed is that Sourob lives hand to mouth and changed job so he had to wait for next months pay packet.

I will always have the last say http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

No you won't Muppetboy. Just remember you admitted, in print, on this very BBS, that I am much funnier than you (I can search the archives and bring it back to the top for you if you like) http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Sunilp

Whilst my receding hairline and expanding girth belie my age, the Labrador and white stick are not yet required. Reference to the 1dp was noted hence the suggestion to do the job properly.

But as relatively recent member of the Sunilpee Appreciation Society, I would not wish to commit the all too common folly of diverting a valid thread in order to further massage your ego.

Sorry edited for typos.

So if I may quote Emerson:- A great man will find a great subject http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

well, you act like a bloke......you sure? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Why does a shopowner get paid a month in arrears then?

stratman 08 November 2000 10:27 PM

sourob

In answer to your original question, and for reference my local Subaru dealer (Robinsons in Rochdale) charges £302 inc vat. for 60000 miler, though thats based on a Jan 2000 price list so it could have gone up a bit by now.

sourob 09 November 2000 07:43 PM

soula - you asked for that one!

..wasnt' the first lecture about making sure the door was shut...and which side of the door you should be on to avoid embarrasment ?

Anway - back to your original mail (which some people have completely ignored ) - I think it is a C O M P L E T E rip off for Castins to quote you such a price for the service (I don't know about the repair) - isn't it just a lubrication and sparks?

This type of rip off puts me off Dealers in general as I has a similar experience with VW - only to find out after 5 years servicing they hadn't changed my fuel filter and it had corroded etc.

My advice, if you can that is, is to go independant, as you know I use a guy called Larry who's fab and quite reasonable, a bit more money you could go to GGRacing in leicester etc etc.
