I have heard of them, aint got one myself but I suppose they are a good idea.

A few alarm systems have a timer built in which can be used as a turbo timer, I know some clifford units have.

I have a Blitz Dual Turbo Timer fitted, it is a very good gadget, haven't had much use of yet since I haven't given the car a good trashing since I had it installed (last thursday)....

I did a lot of research into these and I'd recommend Blitz, mainly because the time is calculated based on how hard you have been driving, rather than just a fixed time like all the others. They do 3 models, the more expensive ones doing boost measurement and 0-60 timing.

UK supplier is Racelogic although other people sell them as well.

As to fitting, I found it easy after getting all the info I needed. The instructions are in japanese! If you know your way around car wiring then no problem.

The only issue is knowing which wire to splice into on the ECU. If you have an MY00 I can tell you. (I expect I'll have to find out about the MY01 as well).

The downside is that they don't work with the alarm. This wasn't a big deal to me though. As Sasim says, there are alarms that will do the timing for you.

I had a turbo timer fitted with my Clifford alarm. As I purchased a full alarm system worth £600, my dealer supplied and fitted the timer for free.

It is really usefull. Mind you though, the first few times are scarey. Walking away from your car when the engine is still running.
Plus the old bill didn't like me walking away from a car with the engine running, until I explained why.
