I have excessive wind noise on my MY97 scoob at 40mph+. It sounds as if the noise is coming from the drivers door near the wing mirror.

I have tried the 'wind window up with door open' trick and that does not help.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Try Halfords Nylon/rubber lubricant on the door seal. Did the trick for me.

Get dealer to re-align window, worked for me.

Good grief, there's a solution to this? Brilliant! I'm off down Halfords now!

Brendan: did you manage to get your rear doors sorted out? (getting the cards off)

Hi All

Thanks for all the reply's.

I have just located the area where the wind noise is coming from. It's coming from the rubber lip on the wing mirror mount where the glass slides into. A gap forms when the window is wound up. This is what is causing the noise.

Does anyone know if any adjustments can be made to the wing mirror mount?

I may have to take it to a dealer.

Regards

Hi Steve,
I had the same problem and tried the dealer and after a number of tries they adjusted the height of the window slightly so it comes up higher when it closes. This is all they could come up with (cost£70!). It partialy sorted the problem, it just starts at a higher speed. I have been told that if you ben the wing mirror inwards with the window down and effectivly(!), the mirror unit puts more pressure on the seal and stops the wind pulling the window out, opening gaps.
Please note I have not tried this yet, may be I will some time if I get realy pissed with the noise.
I know it is a common problem with Subaru, may be we should just get used to it!
Alex
