Mike wood as the spring kits are hopefully only a few weeks away could you fill us in on the details, ie amount of drop over standard , amount of stiffness over standard and what colour are they!!
Regards John |
John
The car will be lowered at the front by around 25mm, the rear a little less. The car feels much more responsive with much less bodyroll and better high speed stability all without destroying the ride quality. Mike |

Thanks very much Mike just what I wanted to here, Any further news on delivery times?
Jza LOL!! Regards John |
Got a WRX PPP wagon coming soon. Two questions on the Prodrive springs:
1) If I go for the 18" Prodrive wheels, is there wheel arch space for the lowered springs also? 2) I presume the Prodrive springs will be ok for the wagon as well as the saloon? Thanks |
AR I have WRX 03 with Prodrive 18 inch wheels there is enough room to put up a tent !! The diameter of the standard 17 inch wheel with 215/45 is the same as 18 inch wheel with 225/40 tyres.
The suspension on wagon and saloon is the same the track is slightly narrower on the wagon but I cant see this being a problem. Regards John |
I'm not sure which 18'' wheels you have but if it is the Speedline version with 8'' width then on a wagon there is certainly not room.
Mike will clarify this for you I'm sure - as there is still an issue with 7.5'' width as it restricts tyre choice. John - it certainly is a problem |
Hi Ronnie if you look in Members gallery under show us your 03 18 inch wheel pics you will see RRH and his WRX 03 Wagon with 18 inch Prodrive wheels and lowered Ibach spring kit (spelling!) There have been several more people this year post with wagons on 18 and lowered spring kits hope this helps.

AR
The springs are designed to work on a 5dr as well as 4dr and do fit with 18" wheels although we don't recommend the 8 x 18" P-FF7 as you may get issues with tyre clearance in very extreme conditions on some 225/40 tyres. Mike |
Thanks everyone.
Mike, the 18" wheels I have in mind are the P-WRC1 with a 7.5" width (ET53) which I presume as a narrower wheel is ok? |
They'll be fine
Mike |
Many thanks Mike. I just wish the ship would speed up a bit - the roads up here in Scotland are quite slippy now!
|
Mike any news on those spring kits yet
Many thanks John |
just a quickie.......i'm having some 19 inch super leggeras fitted to my ew wrxd...will the springs cause a problem with clearence ?
|
Mike,
When I bought my MY03 I also got PPP and as Prodrive recommended 18" wheels with PPP I got the PFF7's - as I'm sure most people did. Are you now saying that the spring kit won't be compatible with this? And if that is the case will you be warning dealers to let customers know to possibly avoid spending a whole load of money which will effectively be wasted if they want to upgrade springs??? Ian |
Ian have you got a wagon or a saloon because I think that Mike was refering to the possibility that Pff7 when fitted to a wagon mint cause some rubbing when under load.
Regards John |
DBY - mmm - didn't read it like that but you may have a point. No, mine's a saloon so I might be OK?

Ian
We found on some 5 door cars that it may be possible to get a small contact between tyre and the rubbing strip on the rear arch. This only happens at full load and on big bumps so if you haven't had it happen yet, you aren't going to make it worse by fitting the spring kit as the rear springs are stiffer and the ride height isn't significantly less. Mike any news yet

Whilst at Rockingham yesterday on a Subaru corporate day, got taken round the national circuit by Mike Wood in a Prodrive car.
Quizzed him about the springs, and he said they were ready and just waiting for Subaru to pick them up.!! |
