Looks as though Button is a bit handy in one of those F1 cars. He was fastest in free practise today, his time was 1:19.808 which is faster than last years pole position time by Frentzen.

In that case, Frank Williams is definitely going to sack him!!

According to Frank, anyone can win the World Championship in a Williams. Just ask David Coulthard, Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Alessandro Zanardi... http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

yea but free practice is for race set up and is notoriously unreliable as an indicator of true pace. A Benneton was 2nd after Button so that tells you something!

Qualifying will be hakkinen/schumi as usual.

Yeah, he's quick but there's an irony in that there's another Brit who, on previous racing evidence is quicker still, in Darren Manning (beat Button to the F3 title), and he's stuck with being test driver for BAR/Honda.

Button had the better PR and is nonetheless obviously hugely talented, but with the aforementioned Williams ruthlessness ,the likelihood of Villeneuve leaving and BAR/Honda in ascendency, it may be that Manning isn't so badly placed after all.

rob F3 title mate.

button has got what it takes i think, his karting record is top rate and he won the formula ford festival in his first year racing cars. That's impresive.

Sorry John, F3, me talking S*** again.
Anyway,in theory, if Frank does retain the sevices of Jensen and manages to hold onto Ralf(who has probably the biggest potential of anyone in the immediate future) and the BMW/Williams team continuing to rise at the current rate, that makes for a team of phenomenal potential.

Go on DC.......

I think he may be starting to drive properly at last, but lets wait and see what happens on Sunday.
