As the subject says, how do I go about turning off, and then if I wish back on, the 'chirps' on my AutoWatch 160 RLi alarm.

The instruction manual does not say how to do it.

You have to get the dealer/installer to do it I'm afraid. I had mine turned off a few days after getting it as it was annoying me and the neighbours! It still chirps though if you try and lock it and a door isn't shut or whatever, which is fine by me.

Cheers guys! I *knew* scoobynet was good for something http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Just want to see how to do it, as I might try it for a week or so.

Is the 3,3 option like anti-hijack by any chance? do I need any additional hardware for this? the alarm already auto locks the C/L when the alarm is armed. Can one still open a door from inside when engine is running though? how would one get out of the car with turbotimer running, take out keys and get back in car, guess it's an alarm on alarm off thang?

Hey Marcus

3/3 would be 5 secs after the engine has been started the doors will lock, when you turn the ignition off the doors unlock. I have it set on my Serpi Star alarm. Stops the gits at the side of the road opening your door dragging you out and driving off in your pride 'n' joy.

Thought that was what 3,3 was, cool, think I'll set it, and then get all worried when I start her up and the doors automatically lock http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

I'm gonna email a friend who's working in south africa at the moment and ask them to ship me over one of the nice 'flame-thrower' anti-hijack systems. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Would really have one up on Moray then, as he can only spit flames out the exhaust, whereas I'd be able to do it from the side, hmmm toasted scum, lovely!!

Markus - to get program mode on autowatch rl160i...

you need to enter code 1,2,3 via the ignition switch....then the 2 digit code for the feature you want to enable/disable...

to enable program mode-

Switch ignition on - red LED will light

switch ignition off and the led will start to flash... immediately after 1 flash turn the ignition on again - thus entering '1' into the system

now switch ignition on again and get steady LED, switch ignition off, and this time wait two flashes before turning the ignition on again - you have now entered '2'

do same as above to enter '3' after 3 flashes of the LED

after 1,2,3 the LED will flash rapidly to let you know you are now in program mode....

you can now enter the two digit codes for the feature you want - this is done in the same way as above - using the flashes of the led to signal the digits... so....

to enable/disable the 'chirps' - use code 9,9 - that is ignition off, wait 9 flashes then ignition on again - then again ignition off, wait 9 flashes and back on again - the alarm will sound a confirmation as follows - chirps on = one 'beep', chirps off = 2 beeps.

you can enter as many program codes as you like without having to repeat the 1,2,3 sequence...

other useful codes....

2,2 - door open warning sound

3,3 - doors lock/unlock with engine on/off

6,6 - proximity alarm (needs an additional radar sensor)

0,0 - return to factory default settings

have fun !

Yep, that's what 3,3 does, only it's about 1 second after turning the ignition on.

Thanks for all the info!

well, got the doors to lock/unlock on ignition on/off, but can't disable chirps' might be I missed a flash though! did not have much time to try it this morning.

Markus 09 August 2000 01:22 PM

OK, I've had a little more time to play but I can't disable the chirps.

I've followed the insturctions and the car/alarm does confirm the 9,9 with either beep or 2 beeps, but it won't disable the chirps.

Any ideas?

Is there a full list of the codes available anywhere?

pwebb 09 August 2000 09:34 PM

markus,

it could be an 8,8 for the chirps on/off sorry but the printed sheet I have is so poor it is difficult to make out the figures in the table in a very small font - if it is 8,8 then the 9,9 will be for lengthening/shortening the delay of the central locking trigger signal (confirmed by 2 beeps longer delay, 1 beep shorter delay)

Cheers.

I'll try 8,8 and see what happens. Twas bit worried as I was not sure what 9,9 was doing, but if it's just the lock delay that's ok.

Thanks for the help on this.
