-   -   Air Con Leaking ? (https://www.scoobynet.com/general-technical-10/26157-air-con-leaking.html)

Parked the car on my drive (MY99 dealer fitted aircon), went out to put it in the garage and noticed a pool of liquid that had obviously leaked from the car http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/frown.gif

Definately not oil, more like water. I had had the air con on for about 10 mins prior to pulling up at home so i suspect the air con is leaking. Anyone else experienced anything similar or should I take go back to my dealer ?

Any comments/advice appreciated.

Cheers

Neil,

Probably just the aircon venting the water it has taken out of the air as it was working (it dehumidfies the air when running).

Tis nothing to worry about.

It`s water and if you think about it, you have "air conditioning". It removes humidity from the surrounding atmosphere, hence the pool of water. It`s more noticeable in summer with its` greater temperatures.

If its of any use, aircon should be used with the windows shut to gain the biggest benefit.

Hope this helps.

Oh....
and use it during the winter for 2 reasons
1, it demists the interior quicker and better and
2, you can lose the gas from the system if its left unused for a while.

Just to add to Maddog's spot-on posts, keep the slider to the left / recirclulate otherwise it doesn't work effectively & feels clammy not cool.

Try not to leave it on recirculate for ever though as you might find you start getting a tad sleepy on long journeys! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

On a more serious note, I find it helps to switch the recirc lever from left to right & back every ten minutes or so. It's as if once the air-con has got most of the moisture out of the air, it can't cool it as effectively. Give it a "breath of fresh air" now & then and it seems to get colder still.
