I,ve seen a number of aticles in mags etc but wondered what the Prodrive Live experience was.

My wife is buying me a driving day as a birthday present and I have a choice;

a) single seater tuition at Silverstone etc or
b) tuition on how to get the most out of my STi

I prefer the second but not sure what options I have, hence the question?

Does anyone have any idea whether Prodrive do offer these courses?

Cheers Mate

Looks brilliant.

Should I just call Prodrive direct to get their details?

I was not too impressed with Prodrive Live for developing driving style.
It was a five or so lap of a small circuit. The tutoring was excellent but it was all over very quickly. Most of the day is spent off roading in a landrover, which I felt was more entertaining.
All in all, its an "experience" day, rather than a development day.

My advice is to go for something like Bill Gwynne (Rallying), Silverstone or perhaps Rockingham ciruit near Corby can do something more road orientated.
Ther are also the specialst trainers who do a 1 to 1 on the road and airfields. There are several of these in the back of EVO.

If you're serious about learning how to drive properly then there is only one place to go and that's to Don Palmers School.

Prodrive Live is an 'experience day' i.e. the emphasis is on having fun rather than learning. HOWEVER they also offer one-on-one tuition at the same facility which I did a few months ago.

You drive your own car (bad if you just want to have fun; brilliant if you want to learn how to drive your own car). For me they offered 3 training activities: (1) track driving, (2) wet grip handling circuit, (3) mini tarmac rally stage. I spent half a day there and the cost was something like 250 quid. I learnt a lot. Great value for money.

Having said that the Silverstone Race School offer excellent driving development. Again I speaking from experience as I did their 5-day intensive course. There several one-day options too -- including one-on-one in your car, driving their saloons or single seaters. The name of their instructors reads like Who Is Who of British motor racing!!

If you are after a fun event then a Palmer Motorsport Sensation day at Bedford has got to be the ultimate experience! Not cheap but worth every penny!! Did it again a couple of weeks ago -- brilliant! They've now got new Le Mans style Jags and a rally stage for Evos :D

E-mail me direct if you want to have a chat about any of these.

Cheers,

Andrei

Does Andy Corner still 'instruct' (or 'demo') at Prodrive Live?
