Hi there,
I’m new to the Forum and just saying a quick hello and got just a quick question that your probably getting well tired of now, although I’ve tried searching thru past post for the answer to no success...

Who is the youngest owner of an Impreza Turbo on here as I’m very keen to get one soon and just checking the feasibility of it.

I currently pay a lot on insurance as I’m 20yrs old (been driving over 3yrs) and drive a magazine feature car with lots of mods, but starting to get a bit tired of that now and figure if I’m going to be paying a lot on ins then I might as well have what I’ve always wanted. A Scooby Turbo and be happy with it as standard!

Sorry for the annoying question as my first post,

Cheers,

Alan.

I have seen many an upset face once some insurance companies pass quotes on Turbo's, so better check with a few of them first.
As it stands, they will not say no to you, it all depends on hw deep your pocket is at the end of the day, as if you are capable of covering their quote, they will insure you.

As for age, the youngest I know to, driving an Impreza WRX 03my is 25yrs. And, yes it is his own car and not a lease or "demo".

Flannel 16 October 2003 04:20 PM

I still consider myself to be young(ish) at the tender age of 23. I've just got a MY03 WRX and pay bout £880 using Tesco (3year NCD).
I know there are younger turbo drivers out there...

newby to scooby 16 October 2003 04:23 PM

Feck me Flannel, how do you pay that, I'm 29 have 7yrs NCD and still pay £880, I know it goes off post codes and all that, but jesus that's a fantastic price !!!!

Welcome :cool::)

Tesco's seems to be the best if you're under 25, I got my UK at 23 and had the husband (then boyfriend) on it at 24 (2 years ncb)and cost about £1500 with full decat exhaust and 17" wheels...and no, you won't keep it standard ;):D

with 3 years ncb and husband hitting 25 it's now £1200 which is slightly better :)

Not sure really, low risk area I guess. Never had any accidents/claims/conviction. Always driven quickish cars. When I was 18 I paid 2k to insure a Golf Mk1 16v(modded) so its about time I got a good quote!

AlanDixon 16 October 2003 05:06 PM

wow, thanks for all the quick replys.

When i say standard, i just sort of mean not to the extent of my current car (can pretty much fill an A4 page with spec list!)

The need to stay standared is because of ins, but will prob still do a little.

Any tips etc, adding mum to policy or becoming a member of IAM, storing in garage?

Am willing to pay up to about 2k ish but not getting my hopes up, tempted to sell current car and get myself a banger till i'm 21 in june and try then! but not sure if i can actually bring myself to do that :(

16vmarc 16 October 2003 05:10 PM

im 23 and with tesco, ive got no ncb and had a claim. Im payin 2400fc. U should get it cheaper than that with ur ncb i should imagine!!!

stuartwrx 16 October 2003 05:30 PM

got my wrx import at 21 with 2 years no claims cost £1500 with tesco tpft thats keeping the value below £5000 above five grand you have to go fully comp(£2500)try limited millege if you can and fill it with security!

Marx Mcrae 16 October 2003 05:56 PM

Im 23 got NO NCD and I pay £1300fc but i live in a good rated area car valued at 10k doing 12k miles. But my cousin who is 21 pays £1200 with 3yrs NCD. These are both through tescos, but go online cos over the phone they quoted me £2500. You get a 5% discount over the net, or more like a 50% discount in my situation

Try getting loads of quotes on-line. I had
quotes ranging from £550 right up to £12,000!!
(MY94 WRX import, 26 and 8 yrs NCB, no points)

i got my first scoob at 20 it was a 93 wrx and i paid £1700 2 insure it tpff with 2 years ncd i am now 22 and have a sti 5 type r witch i pay £2000 2 insure full comp with 4 years ncb

AlanDixon 17 October 2003 10:23 AM

Thats the problem Marc, i've not got any NCD as i'm still on parents policy. Need to start my own hence the thinking of getting a banger and getting a 10 month NCD policy which will end when i'm 21 and get the scoob then with the 1yr NCD.
Unless i can some how get insurance on one now :s

AlanDixon 17 October 2003 10:24 AM

Higgs, who was that insured with at 20?
