recently smashed the motor up :(
Total loss agreed by the insurers :)
car is MY99 turbo wagon
brakes exhaust bargain of the century if you find this in a scrappy.
brakes = DBA 5000 on the front DBA gold on the back with DS2500 pads and goodridge hoses (these have only coverd 300 miles prior to accident about a grands worth of kit)
Magnex decat down and centre have coverd ony 200 miles since fitting and also Ninja backbox coverd about 2000 miles (didnt get to see wether these are any good after accident.
Thought id let ya know as I won't be getting another classic.
car was taken to stourbridge so presume it will be scrapped there and should be sorted by middle of next week.
let me know if you get em as I would be chuffed for someone to use them (especially if they are scooby netters)
I will add to this post if I find out where it goes.:)

edited to say SCRAP HEAP CHALLENGE!

If you can find out which scrap/salvage yard they've taken it to it would be a big help. Alternatively, if you could give me the insurance assessors name or contact.

STi wanna Subaru 15 October 2003 10:37 AM

hmmm - Stourbridge - a big scrappy there called Hewitt's, they specialise in Auto Salvage.

Prob gone there as a guess......

Dan_P 15 October 2003 05:43 PM

Will post when I find out where it is.
I have to get tax disc and stereo out of it first and engineer needs to asses pre crash condition (How??).

Andy- I know m8 id just spent a load of cash getting it sorted then big end failure then driving it back from showells........ KKKRRRAAAASSSHHHHHHHHHH
Not a happy bunny
I only made it to one of your meetings and was looking forward to doing some more:( Its just starting to sink in, I would give anything for one last blast in her).
not sure what to get as the scooby was costing me a lot to run (30k miles a year running own bussiness) but the bloke at showells is trying to get me finance on a bugeye STI (nice) but I keep thinking I should be sensible so have just booked a test drive in a [/Privacy mode on] Oktavia Vrs [/privacy mode off]wich looks very nice and would be brand new and cheaper to run, but I loved my Scooby.............will send you scrappies details when sorted as i know you have a 99/00 and think you where after brakes at the plough meeting (the front discs are standard size but 2 piece with blue alu bell housing (dba5000)....... very very nice.
Have fun at meeting tonight

If it's anything like my extensively damaged 8 month old MY00 (15K estimate of repair so total loss write off) it'll be back on the road in weeks with the 'repairer' ringing the dealer for a replacement service history book (Yes, believe it or not they did & got one too!!!).

Luke 15 October 2003 09:07 PM

In "Auto trader" next month.....Good condition,One lebian owner.

pugoetru 15 October 2003 09:30 PM

yes if it is write of because of cost rather than damage then it will go to a salvage auction most likely

and as arnie says it will be back :D

Dan_P 15 October 2003 09:48 PM

ooh ya fu#ker, wouldnt want to buy that without knowing. dangerous for a car thats designed to go fast..... and dealer passing on log books is downright criminal.
some poor fu#ker will end up with it..................

hmm not getting flamed for arranging a Skoda test drive...R U all awake here......I was hoping to have the Scoob kicked back into me :D save me before its too late...........----------------

SiDHEaD 15 October 2003 11:56 PM

:p he offered me first refusal on the brake discs etc (yes i still need some!!)

Dan: go for the STI, sod sensible. Get out and test drive it!

I do 30k so know how the fuel/servicing bills look though

Andy:- are you after the calipers too?

Plus, did the airbags go off?

Scooby96 16 October 2003 10:29 AM

Wouldnt you be better off buying it back and stripping the goodies off it yourself to recover part of the loss you'll take on this or were all the mods insured to?

Dan_P 16 October 2003 11:19 PM

I had gap insurance (phew that was close) and won't be getting another classic (although may be having a look at a P1 on friday (shouldn't!!!!:):D:)
going to get stereo out of car tomorrow and will ask what its fate will be.
could of taken disks and exhaust off but have no discs to put back on and as the car doesnt move so cant ramp it to get exhaust oh yeah and i am a mechanical fool so would take me 2 days to get the right end of the spanner b4 i even got the discs off :D
but do have dump valve in my kitchen (usefull--anti lag kettle technology ...... its never boiled so fast!!!!!!:D)

SiDHEaD 17 October 2003 12:24 AM

I have some shagged discs that could go on ;)

Nope don't need calipers!

Andy

ALi-B 17 October 2003 12:39 AM

OK, I bagsie all the Calipers :D (presuming they are 4 pots)

Dan_P...hows the airbag? I fancy the later steering wheel. Mine has the same wheel as the one in a Isuzu Trooper :(
