the MY99 imp terbo that i just bought was in great condition except for a broken pump for the headlight washers. never use them, so i want to change the button to a button that will start the engine. i will put the key into the ignition, put it on 'on' then push the button to start the engine. but i can also start it the normal way. how will i go about doing this? what 2 wires from the 2 or 3 ignition looms do i need to splice to the headlight washer button?

Indeedy, re-wiring the washer switch as a starter is a bit of a waste of time.

Like the flame thrower idea though, and most of the bits you'd need to do it are already there.

Just turn the headlamp washer units through 180 degrees, plumb the pump into an extra tank, and add a couple of piezo spark units underneath the spray nozzles. Sorted. :D

Actually i like this idea, although not with being able to start in the normal way.

It would make a fantastic security device if done properly.

Imagine the scenario, scumbags breaks into your house, nicks your keys, but cant start the car. Hopefully your headlights would be clean so he wouldnt feel the need to give them a quick wash :cool:

anybody know which 2 wires to splice? im sure i read about it somewhere but cant find it any more.
