I'm running my scoob on sun at the pod for the first time and want to know if any bugs have been down the strip and what sort of time is realistic for a 'virgin' !!!

Cheers Dan

My first try... 13.04 My03 STI PPP. just missed the 12's...
Next time without the half tank of regualar green stuff, so just a drop of optimax and hoisting the sub should see the 12's...

Dazza
PS you'll have a blast!!! I well enjoyed it!

You can lose over half a second on a bad start, for good times you'll have to go totally evil on the clutch!!!

I did what I thought was a maniac start on my 99 turbo with circa 270hp and it got 14.1secs!!!! I'm going back next Sunday to go absolutely mental with the car.

PS it was a hot day when I get 14.1, other peeps with same mods as me get low 13's, i'm very surprised about hearing the 03's getting VERY low 13's!

I have had some very good time in my car, tried to ge gentle on the clutch, you know what cossies are like,;),did not slide my foot off the clutch like people say you do and got respectable times!

Just do the same as you do from the lights and you wil be o.k ;), 6000 rpm and let the clutch out!

Dazza,
I take it you havnt read the manual about what fuel a Type UK STi should run then??
Why put unleaded in a car thats suppose to run super unleaded, which is a BIG reason people get det and kill engines (which is why now Subaru UK strip engines when claims go in to find the cause, thus you could have to pay for a new one, and they are not cheap! )
The only turbocharged subaru's that IM provide in this country that "can" run on unleaded (but thats still very debatable) are the classic shaped standard uk turbo's and newer shaped euro/uk spec WRX's (you will note that a PPP car is designed to run on 97+ ron fuel and not 95 ron).
Id get yourself a knock link ;) its one good bit of kit and it will show you what damage your doing to your engine whilst running 95 ron  (plus id go for something different than optimax, ive found that BP 97 ron is more consistant and just a cheap as optimax ;))

Tony

I'm getting my new STi ( UK ) shortly and I do intend to run on SUL/Optimax , just a bit concerned over the thing about Subaru stripping warranty claim engines , jusst checked the specifications and it does say 95(MIN) as fuel type , surely they can't void a warranty if someone uses it

Just kill the clutch lol i did. Standard MY97 13.7 on a warm day, first time on strip also.

Just enjoy it m8 i certinally did. Well apart from the clutch lol.

ive been told a ppp should b running mid 13s.

Dazza's-STi 11 October 2003 05:23 PM

Tony, it does say 95 minimum in the book, and prodrive state the bhp figure running on super plus so i can't see a warrenty issue...
Actualy I had no intention of running the car, and do quite a lot of M-way driving so i normally use normal UL through the week. Its under no stress on the Mway 2.5k rpm @70 and I just plod about when using it for work... Changed my driving, i was always @ 85+ in the BM!
I just couldn't resist seeing how much fun it was so had a few goes...
next time the best juice and some octane booster! here come the 12's but whatever the times it really is good fun, after a couple of runs you can judge not overworking the clutch.

dazza's time was very good ... 0.4 quicker than the prodrive official quote (although they may have their 0-100 and 1/4 mixed up ;) )

i only managed 13.68 :( .... car is due a service tho'

- mark.
