Could anyone possibly run me through what I have to do in order to get my wireless network at home encrypted using IPSec?

What hardware are you running (network wise)?

It's a 3com homeconnect WAP and 2 US Robotics PCI cards plus my laptop - which is a Dell truemobile 1300.

hardware?? Do you mean hardware that can act as an endpoint like Cisco's PIX stuff?
I would normally do this using freeswan in Linux. Make sure your up to SP2 on win 2K (XP is ok 'as is') Your basically gonna set up a certificate and run over a VPN. software like SSH Sentinel is better suited to this than the built in windows stuff, but you can find it here http://agent.microsoft.com/windows20...ipsecpol-o.asp There is a little more config required than this, but I am not gonna go into it all unless you want to go down this route. Why r u wanting to use ipsec?
Becouse you want a secure wireless network? Well change the SSID and add WEP encryption, ipsec ok but WEP And the SSID will secure your 802.11 connections! no need 4 ipsec your just adding complexity and you really need server to dish ou the key's dazza |
