Dear BBS friends

I live in Singapore and have ordered a WRX Ver 5 STI Type R. The car is restricted to 180km/h. The dealer informs me that as part of the package, he will install a speed card to derestrict this. However, he will not be replacing the speedo for me.

Anyone out there has any experience on this? I basically want to be able to know my speeds above 180km/h. http://bbs.sidc.co.uk/smile.gif

Should I install another digital/analogue speedo or is it simple to change the original speedo? If so, any recommendations how I can get one that looks or is original?

Also, I would like to get a boost guage and turbo timers. Recommendations please.

Thanks
Seraph

There is a replacement speedo cable which is geared to show miles instead of km.It also sets the limiter to 180mph!!
This site has an excellent search facility where you can get much more info.

Seraph,
this is easy -
sti themselves make replacement speedos with markings to 240 kmh - and 260 kmh

your local sti dealer should be able to source this from the standard sti parts catalogue

try the following web links for pics + part nos.

forgot to mention - my sti v5 was ordered with factory fitted boost guage and extra dials...

http://202.217.201.209/showroom/wrx/accessory.html

these are relatively cheap to add to your car but best done at the factory as the installation is neater - these dials match the dashboard (white faces) and have the same green back lighting (manufacturer = LAMCO).

for a turbo timer - look at the Apexi , Blitz and HKS offerings on their web sites - these you would have to install yourself and you may have to get your alarm fitter to wire this to your alarm (I hope you are getting an alarm fitted too!) circuitry
