Looking very likely to be around 24/10/2003. If you have more than 10 users of 10.2 I would strongly advise taking out an Apple Mainenance Programme tomorrow as this covers you on all upgrades for 3 years.

If you've not done this now its too late as 10.3 is now laucnhed in the UK the period to take out AMP to get you 10.3 has now expired.

SwissTony 14 October 2003 01:05 PM

wait til Oct 24th (no make that Oct 26th after we have had the weekend to play with it), then you will get some serious preaching.

stevencotton 14 October 2003 01:25 PM

Gary, let us know when you get five minutes in between patching your OS and we'll tell you ;) Just joking of course.

I tried a pre-release Panther a few weeks ago and was pretty impressed at the speed increase, looking forward to trying it out properly.

:) @ Steven

Ok guys the little exposure I've had to Macs I like em, I *want* to like em and I would consider buying an iBook if there was something extra I got from using one, I dont think there would be. Im not pro M$ at all, I think they make some good stuff and some exremely bad stuff too! Win32 as an OS is slightly flawed but is popular and if you want to make a living developing software then you have to target the biggest market, simple business sense!

Ok so what do I need:
Decent dev tool (using Pascal language) only seen Gnu Pascal and its way behind Delphi on Win32 and doesnt have a productive IDE, does code warrior have a pascal plug-in?

Industry strength DB, forget filemaker and codebase, Im talking transactional, two phase commit that wont choke on several million records.

Music, well one area I know support is pretty good, I have some VST plugs that are dual format or is it RTAS?, Acid pro yep I think has Mac version, Traktion (sequencer) got one on the way. That said alot more freeware VST stuff for Win32 than for Mac/OSX (not that more is necessarly better)

One thing I would like to know are what are good sites for keeping up with news/reviews/software releases, I am interested just need to see more of what I need on 'the other side' :D
