No way :(
Oh well, he didn't say that one either, NULL and VOID me finks :D |
The deleted file name will have it's first character replaced by a question mark. This is how MSDOS recognizes deleted files that can be overwritten. In order to recover the file, you must enter the missing character to replace the question mark. Enter the command with the '/?' parameter to get more information on how it works.

Oh great, 50/50
My mate reckons it's '?' but I disagree, I reckon's that's just how UNDELETE shows it to the end user. I fought it woz $ though now, I'm more inclined to agree wiv Fig. Less he's speaking balonie as usual  |
UNDELETE uses the Delete Sentry method, if it is present. If Delete
Sentry is not, UNDELETE uses Delete Tracker, if present. Otherwise, UNDELETE recovers files from the DOS directory, supplying a number sign (#) for the missing first character in the filename. If a duplicate filename already exists, this switch next tries each of the following characters, in the order listed, until the result is a unique filename: #%&0123456789ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ. |
What happens to ms-dos files when they are deleted? |
