Has anybody got any recomendations were to buy a new machine from, need one for a friend so not going to build one myself, only need a base unit.

Try Dell and their outlet shop online. Very good priced base units.
|
Or Aria do a good range of pre-built base units.

PC World

Simply computers do good little systems.
Depends if you wanna build it or get pre built |
Dell all the way.
Saying that PC world are selling 3.2Ghz machines with printers, cameras, desk and everything for under a grand. Not bad really. Their tech support is abysmal though, and you have to pay for it  Darren |
PC World Anecdote #374312
Mate bought an AMD XP2400 pre-built system last week. Includes crappy flatscreen for £699 Anyway, got it home, turned it on and...the modem was f&cked. Spent the next 3 days with their tech support / rma getting it sorted. |
I'm looking for much the same for about £600 (ex VAT) but with 3 onsite warranty for my old man - unfortunately the Dell Dimension factory outlet jobs have 1 year return to base, which is not any use :(

Simply are laying people off. 40 went in the last month if the trade rumours are correct. I'd be wary myself of that.

you can upgrade the dell outlet warranty when you pay for it!!
