Andy,

Don't worry m8. Disarm the battery as usual with the keyfob. When you disconnect the battery terminal it will give a beep, but it won't actually set the alarm off (coz you've disarmed it already).

I worried about this before I did mine - even wore some ear defenders just in case it went off with my head under the bonnet.

It'll beep when you put the terminal back on too. It's a noisy bugger and makes me jump every time :)

I need to remove the battery negative terminal to install new earths.
last night at about 9pm (good time to be routing about under the bonnet I know:rolleyes:) I undid the bolt and the alarm peeped.
so I tightened it back up.
How can I remove the battery negative (and later positive) without the alarm going off?

Just as a "[precaution", if the alarm system has battery backup.
If you switch on the ignition, then disconnect the battery, the alarm backup system will not sound the siren off.

doesn't matter if it has battery backup or not. If you disarm the battery correctly with the keyfob or keypad, removing the battery terminals has no effect (other than the little breif complaint from the siren as you connect/disconnect the electrical feed).

Trust me, I did this plenty of times when I fitted the earthing mod.

I agree with Ozzy.
No problems other than the one off bleeps when I changed my battery.
