Just been talking to the guys at Motorpoint, and a Subaru WRX from them costs £16599.00. Sounds a good price, but they import from Cyprus would this be a problem.

In broad terms NON EU imports are

Not as good as a JDM car for power etc

but have all the servicing problems

There are plenty of threads on this, so the Search button will bring up a lot of useful info.

The short answer is that cars sourced from Cyprus can be problematic due to the fact that IM/Subaru UK won't support them, so the only warranty you'll get will be Motorpoint's. In this respect you would be no worse off with a Japanese market car.

IIRC they also don't have the alarm, locking wheelnuts, tracker and other bits supplied as standard on bona fide UK cars, and don't have the free 1000 mile service either. Once you've added the cost of these items on, the price doesn't look as sweet, and resale values are likely to be affected by the fact that they're not "proper" UK cars.

A couple of people have done their sums on the Motorpoint cars and found that the deals aren't as sweet as they first appear, especially bearing in mind that there's usually more room for negotiation with a main dealer. Hit the search button and I'm sure you'll learn a lot.

Try a search on Motorpoint, this has been discussed a fair bit on here, cannot remeber the outcome but i think there ara a few issues to do with warranty, underseal/rustproofing, alarm, etc. Non insurmaountable but worth considering. Also i heard on the radio one 3rd party warranty supplier are to stop offering cover for the Scoob Turbo's due to the cost to repair, something like £ 1200.00 per claim where as a Ford is £ 260.00.


Check the likes of Litchfield and other suppliers on here as well, you might find a similar/better deal once you include warrranty, alarm, imobiliser, etc. You arte unlikely to get insurance without an alarm and Cat1 imob.
