Christ, thought i had mistyped the url and ended up and an MGB BBS for a moment :p

Lieffe is pretty good, like Old Peculiar as well. Have to be in the mood for it or it's Becks for me!

Can't beat a fresh pint of Enville (local stuff)
Failing that Batham's

Or if I'm in a Largery mood: Foster's, or Carlsberg Export
That Cobra stuff goes down well with a curry

Can you still get Calders anymore? Don't see it anywhere by me these days :(

Now, is there any Brew XI drinkers out there? ;)

Ohh, forgot to add - I'm also a Guinness drinker :D

Have decided my personal favourite is Wychwood 'Firecrest' from Sainsburys, I think only sainsburys do it but its superb, its a light bottled ale at 6.0%. Go out and buy some, its with all the really shady bottles of brown stuff like Hobgoblin and Old Perculier, wang it in the fridge and get it nice and cold, makes me realise how crap Stella etc really is.

Any other nominations ?

Kronenbourg Premeir Cru was a dissapointment and Cobra lager last night was like bad tap water.

Poor Guy 04 October 2003 07:56 PM

Leffe

ChrisB 04 October 2003 08:07 PM

Wychwood make a number of good brews like Firecrest. Badger Champion is very nice. Youngs do a Champion which tastes great too. The bottled beer section in Tesco or wherever is great for trying some new stuff out.

Poor Guy 04 October 2003 08:11 PM

timmy taylors!

feckin ace beer

bluto22b 04 October 2003 08:17 PM

Firecrest is lovely have you tried Marstons at 6%
I like my local brew, Adnams, the strongest they do is 5% though

I have jushst downed a bottle of Perrys Cider from Shomerset, hic.

Damn good shtuff. hic :D

taffyterzo 04 October 2003 08:41 PM

Just getting stuck into a few Tiger Gold Medal,
cheap as chips and does the job :D

J4CKO 04 October 2003 08:41 PM

Paul, see your point !

Not sure what constitutes 'Real Ale' and I havent got a beard (or an MG) but the word needs to be spread about Firecrest !

J4CKO 04 October 2003 08:43 PM

Bluto, Havent tried Marstons but I will give it a try, cheers.

MadGrip 04 October 2003 08:44 PM

If it Beer then its got to be that creamy Yorkshire Tetleys , If lager then Stella wins every time......hic.....hic

Lieffe is a superb beer ;) but not many places sell it :(

I sometimes go to Glossop to see the Outlaws and theres a little pub there that sells a great cask beer called "Devils Arse". Not been there for a while but will be going at Christmas so hope they still do it :D

They only serve it in halfs and will only give you a max. of four.

beemerboy 04 October 2003 09:01 PM

If Stella doesn't bring out the frank bruno in me, then Hurliman's will usually do the trick.

Not many places doing it on draught these days, but seriously reconsider driving after one pint of it!!!!!

..best of all its tastes absolutely spiffing...

BB:)

mwp 04 October 2003 09:05 PM

beer = london pride
lager = stella

shug 04 October 2003 11:26 PM

Hoegaarden - only on draught - it does'nt taste as good in bottles.
Leffe Blonde - 6.6% & comes in large 75cl bottles.

beemerboy 04 October 2003 11:53 PM

NASTRO AZZURRO
Italian for "horses pi55" !!! LMFAO.

end of. ;)

BB:)

Have any of you lot strayed outside the M25?

I cast my vote for Holts Bitter, an acquired taste perhaps but isn't that what something called "bitter" SHOULD be?

It's also completely headbanging and consistently the cheapest pint in the UK.

Oh, and it's from Manchester, Strangeways indeed.

purple helmet 05 October 2003 12:24 AM

mwp - good shout re London Pride BTW.

Inforcer 05 October 2003 12:50 AM

Any would do me! Whatever gets me pi$$ed!

MadGrip 05 October 2003 08:41 AM

Trucker Ted 05 October 2003 08:45 AM

Spitfire brewed by Shepard neame is top notch, their Bishops Finger is pretty good too.Oldest brewery in Britain apparently.
Waggledance by Youngs is also quite refreshing brewed with honey.

Anyone who just drinks lager should really give the real ales a go and take their beer drinking to a higher level, you wont go back to the regulation p*ss water.:)

wakeboardar 05 October 2003 09:30 AM

another vote for peroni nastro

Muffleman 05 October 2003 10:29 AM

If it's lager, then Coors extra gold is great - but can you find it in this country ? It's like finding a fart in a jacuzzi !!!

J4CKO 05 October 2003 10:43 AM

Holts, er, not my favourite, as a youngster I worked in a Holts pub and now cant abide the stuff, ditto Hydes, not as aggressive as Holts but not very nice, I like Lager mainly and Bitter has to be really nice to get me interested, to be honest I associate Holts and Hydes with old Fleggers who came in every night and sank eight pints of the stuff and rode home on ancient Raleigh Shoppers !

Robinsons if you are in Manchester is also one to avoid, having spent three years at College smelling it being brewed it has acted as very effective aversion therapy, and it makes you poo smell funny !

Kippax 05 October 2003 11:58 AM

J4KCO, robbies and hydes are top brews.....this geezers face says it all. check the dude in the mirror as well. he's in heaven :)

ProperCharlie 05 October 2003 01:08 PM

Budvar.

Also like a pint of Adnams when I'm in the sticks.

Ciaran 05 October 2003 01:18 PM

i find a nice cold pint of TENNENTS always does the job!

One_Lung 05 October 2003 01:30 PM

Has anyone tried Singha beer. I thought it was absolutely lovely:D

ScoobyKev 05 October 2003 02:31 PM

I always choose the strongest drink, Fosters or Carling :)

Kev
