I'm just about to get the mirrors and sills on the car colour coded but I havn't managed to remove the glass from the mirror through fear of breaking it,any ideas how to get it out?

Hi David

When I had my sills/mirrors/Prodrive Spoiler colour-coded, the paintshop guys had to dismantle the assembly & break the glass, then fit new glass in once painted!
They said breaking the glass was the only way to do it as the glass would not come out in one piece.
The only good news for me was that they had 2 bits of mirror lying about that were exactly the same size - so they didn't charge me to replace the mirror !
So I guess that they were not taking me for a ride because they didn't make any more money of of me doing it that way.

Ta

Jules

Have to agree with Jules on this. Just had my 99 delivered, and specified color coding. Dealership manager instructed body shop doing the work not to remove the glass, just mask it. It still came back with smashed mirrors, 'cause they decided to remove the glass anyway...

Strange, my dealer had my car colour coded for me, no charge for mirror glass, in fact they didnt even say there would be a problem with it?

Thanks for the replys guys,I've had the colour coding done now and they masked the mirrors and appear to of done a very good job of all the bits, not bad for £105!
If anyone in the Bournemouth/Poole area wants to know were I got this done E-Mail me and I will give you the name and number .
