Yea come on people give us an idea :)
Been speaking to someone else and they are saying it will be the Damper not the mount as it's only a rubber isolator so there is nothing there to fail?? Did yours cure your knocking noise? Could you feel the top of the shock/damper move when the knocking noise occurred? (if someone else was driving etc) [Edited by stiscooby - 10/9/2003 8:18:11 PM] |

!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just bought 2 front, 2 rear, STi top mounts ( Possibly Grp N ones ! ) for £51.xx somthing each, talk to Ollie there plus vat and cariage, £251 ish IIRC the lot delivered. I haven't used them before so no old favours for me .. |
Hmmm mine is a simple WRX jap import, maybe your Type-R is a different item?
Someone should e able to tell us... |
The std and STi top mounts are a metal mounting plate , rubber isolator and metal inner with a ball bearing race which is bolted to the damper piston.
If the bearing wears, or the rubber isolator wears, lost steering precision and knocking. Not sure of damper failure noise. Not fitted mine yet, looking for the spacer / washer for between spring cap and underside of top mount. V |
