If you want to keep one cat, change the downpipe and keep the centre cat. This will improve spool up and of the two cats, the gas is cooler at the centre one so it saps less power. This arrangement will also still pass the MOT.

A downpipe and centre should give you around 245-250bhp on PE's rolling road.

Hello guys,

I picked up my RB5 earlier this week, absolutley awesome can't stop driving it!!!

Been speaking to Mark from RB5oc, Anyway i understand i have two catalytic convertors on my car, one in the downpipe and a small one in the mid section, is this correct?
Secondly, Can i de-cat the mid section and still pass an emissions test for the MOT??
Finally, how much power if any should i expect from doing this, who is the best company to go to for this??

If you leave the down pipe in situ and remove the centre cat you will still pass the mot,with a decent back box you will gain approx 18 BHP and the best company well it must be us -the designer of the original Scoobysport systems.

Of coarse "specials" are our specialty it's what we thrive on.

Hmmm i'm pretty sure from looking at what people have said, that it will not pass an MOT with a aftermarket downpipe fitted.

I have the WR sport RB5 so i have a prodrive exhaust from the rear Cat back so i'm not expecting much more BHP just more noise and being able to hear my wastegate dump would be nice!

To be on the safe side and if funds allow we can put a high flow 100 cell cat in the down pipe (as Prodrive do )and de-cat the centre pipe.You still get almost the same power as if it was de-catted but is legal.

In that case you would only have a single cat at the moment anyway, the one in the downpipe. The centre secion is just a straight through section with a resonator.

Passing an MOT is not as hard as you would think with a full de-cat. Many specialists will offer a pretty reasonable service, fitting a cat and removing after testing.

I had my 1st MOT last Saturday (MY00 with full de-cat etc) at a de-cat friendly garage ;) - cost me £32 all in.
