Does anyone know if 8x17" ET50 rims (e.g. Compomotive MO) fit without problems, or is it best to stick to a 7" rim width?

(Assuming 215/40 tyre)

Thanks
Alastair

Hi Alastair,
I would have thought an 8 x 17 would probably go on,but I think it's likley to need a 40/45 et.No idea what it would handle like ?.Speak to Graham Goode, they can probably advise you.
If you check their web site www.grahamgoode.com they have a whole section on wheels.
Most people seem to stick to 7x17 et 50.

Hope this helps, Mark.A.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the advice Mark - I spoke to Graham Goode about this particular wheel, the y seemed to think it should be okay with an ET50 offset, although they reckoned it may rub slightly in extreme cases e.g. heavy cornerning and/or very heavy loads, so maybe it's best just to stick to the 7x17" rims.

I'm looking to upgrade my original 15" rims (MY97), having finally decided to give up waiting for the original RE71s to wear out. (25,000 miles and still 3mm tread!). I was looking to get a 17" rim that was 'future-proof' against possible big-disk brake upgrades. Given the relative costs of new rims and disk upgrades though, maybe I should just buy a set of 7x17" rims just now, and consider changing them only if I decide to go for such an upgrade.

Theo - I believe a 7x17" ET48 is fine, at least according the FAQ, which says that the Speedline Competition2 supplied by Subaru is ET48. I couldn't find anything in the FAQ about the wider 8" rims though, so I wasn't sure if it would fit and what offsets were needed.

Cheers
Alastair
