I am 6 weeks into Impreza ownership and having now run the car in and had the 1000 mile service, I am looking at taking it to a SIDC driving course run by the police in Chelmsford, so as to help learn the limits of the car. I have next to no knowledge on these events and would appreciate any information, particularly on the following points:

Cost?
Duration?
Availability?
What exactly is involved?
Do you participate in your own car or in police training vehicles?
If you use your own is it advisable to use an old set of rims/wheels? (drastic tyre wear?)
If you use your own do you need special cover from your insurers?
Is it an actual test and if so does passing it reduce insurance premiums?
How many people normally attend?

I would be very grateful for any information

Thanks

Hello James

Thankyou for the information and yes, I am a member. A friend of mine who is not a member (he owns a Supra and is in the UK Supras club) is also interested. Is he eligable to attend, or is it exclusivley for owners of Imprezas/SIDC members?

Thanks again

It is exclusively for SIDC members and their families.

Something else to have a go at is the MIRA wetter the better course.
