Getting a new one next week, and have had some water pipes, banjo's & banjo bolts commissioned so i can get around the water problem (TD04 banjos won't fit TD05).
Any special tweaks i should get done whilst its being modified etc? Cheers Iain |
Do you have headers or an uppipe?
A tubular up-pipe will make a fair amount of difference, also porting the exhaust housing inlet to match the uppipe. I smoothed out the compressor outlet aswell. Andrew... |

I have the standard manifold & up pipe, and both of these were ported about 6 months ago. The turbo is new so, any idea as to how i go about asking them to port the exhaust inlet side (as there will be no carbon marks on it). Or is this something i can do afterwards, and if so, how do i stop the filings from going into the exhaust turbine? Cheers Iain PS, I will mail you this as well |
The up-pipe to turbo gasket I had was an almost perfect fit for the uppipe so I used this a guide to open up the turbine inlet. I just stuffed a nice clean rag into the inlet to prevent swarfe from getting through to the turbine wheel and used my favorite 20x10 ball nosed cone burr to open up the housing. If you did the manifold yourself then you'll have no problems in doing the turbo. The main thing is to make sure there isn't a step where the uppipe joins the turbo. Andrew... |
Cheers Andrew,
By 'step' i guess you mean a step down to the turbo, as supposed to a step up? Thanks Iain |
