I know tyres have been discussed before, but I have just had a quote for these Falken tyres for £90 per tyre, as an alternative to the Goodyear Eagle F1 Directionals, anyone used Falkens before?

I've got these, a result of needing four new tyres when broke...
My opinion: for the price I was expecting not much cop but I reckon they're quite good - wet weather isn't as good as the original Bridgestone and they slide a bit more than I'd like at the limit.

I'd buy them again. I got mine from Elite in Essex for £70 each, IIRC.

OK, what about the Falken ZE502, this is a 'V'directional tread (the FK0 isn't), I've had a quote of £352 all in from Elite.

As you will probably guess, I'm skint but need some decent new tryes, any help much appreciated, I'm quite keen to get the 'V' tread as everyone seems to rate it highly in terms of wet and dry grip.

I've got the 502's and had no problem with them at all. I never push that hard in the wet, but they have behaved well. They seem to be wearing quite well, they've done 2 track days (pushed hard) and about 12000 road miles, and still have 3-4mm left.

My MY98 saloon did about 15000 on the original bridgestones, I then changed to 17" wheels and fitted the Falken 215/40 x 17" at a cost of £65 + vat from Micheldever Tyres( a lot cheaper than 205/45 x 17 Pirelli's and so far I've done 7500 on them and I think they should last another 7500. As for performance I can't say I've noticed any great differences. I also used Falkens when I had a V6 Cavalier and found them to be OK

I had Falken GRB 205/40/17's put on when I got new wheels (I was buggered if I was going to shell out for the wheels and a set of Pirelli Assymetrico 205/45's- Falken didn't do 205/45's at the time,I'm not even sure if they do now do they?) and ran with them for just over a year.I didn't think they were particularly outstanding in any area (apart from initial cost),an impression only heightened when I changed to Yokohama 520's- (I'd had 510's on a previous car and been well impressed)- which, while costing a bit more,I subjectively find to be superior in virtually every respect(including wear-rate, despite being seemingly a stickier compound).I'd go for the Yoko's every time.

Oh, they're just over £100+Vat by the way
