Is it true that you loose around 70BHP! on your scoob through transmission and 4 wheel drive?

Therefore if a scoob has 250BHP at the flywheel its probabably only got 180BHP at the wheels....taking an average weight of a scoob say 1200kg (probably heavier) thats 150BHP per tonne.

My mates Moddded Clio Williams made 150BHP at the wheels the other day, and weighing in at a mere 900kg thats 167BHP per tonne.

Going by the above estimates the Clio would win in a straight line????

Reason I'm asking is that he wants to give me a go down a straight (on a private road of course), my scoob has approx 250BHP with full zorst and induction kit.....judging by the above calculations he will beat me?????

If i'm talking total bollo**s let me know.

Never underestimate a clio!!

You should get a better start but dont think you will lose him on a long straight. I had a Blat with a Turbo Clio which was putting out 250hp, in my old WRX. I had difficulty getting away from him.. At the time i would estimate i had about 350hp..

Rob

Not quite the same as the Clio was turbocharged but given my power and yours the logic is the same.

its one thing having the power and its another getting it down!
with you having 4 wheel drive you will be able to get off the line a lot quicker than a high power fwd car, it makes all the difference on a q/mile run ;)

yeah tweenierob

He ran a 14.4 quater mile at York a couple of months ago it is a fast little car...plus with his coilovers dropped to the floor its very good round the twisties.

14.4 is good for a clio, watch out:D:D

Rob

p.s. 1/4 mile is different... with the 4WD system you should spit tarmac at the clio ;)

If you launch between 4000 - 5000rpm you'll thrash him. You'll be 3 cars length ahead of him by the time he stops wheel spinning.
When I dump the clutch at 5000rpm in my Type R, all hell breaks loose. I can't imagine many 2 wheel drive cars beating me off the line.

Why are you asking? Are you saying you'll only take him on if you're confident of winning? Coward! ;)
