Hi Guys,

I have a cat 1 cobra alarm system and its linked to the central locking. When unlocking the car I have to press the button three times. Once to unlock (which turns the alarm off but doesn't open the doors), twice to lock it (gives off a loud beeping sound) and on the third press the alarm goes off and the doors unlock.

Does anyone know if this is right ?

The alarm works fine otherwise.

I had installed at an approved cobra installation centre and it still under warranty.

Sorry if I am being stupid and this is how its suppose to work but I thought I asked.

Cheers

I dont think you are being stupid, one press should disable the alarm and open the doors. I would take it back and ask them to look at it. The alarm on my 99 and the clifford 50 i had on my 97 all did one press, disarm and open.

I also have a Cobra cat1 fitted with all the gismo's, but one press lock's the car and sets the alarm/immobiliser, another press then opens it all up. Only when you leave the car open then later go to lock it, do you have to press the button twice. The first time to undo the immobiliser (this arms automatically after 30 seconds) and the second press to then lock and arm.

I've had the Cobra since August '97 when the car was new, so it has probably been updated since then.
