Hi all,

My MY98 is fitted with a ScoobySport exhaust. At motorways speeds my wife finds the noise levels in the car quite high. Anyone out there got any ideas on how to soundproof the car?

I would suggest going to some car Hi-Fi shops for advice. I have seen them sell various different types of sound deadening material to cut out background noise in cars, including stuff which looks like stick on rubber panel for the inside of body panels etc.

Apparently it is cheaper and gives a better result to spend a few hundred quid on sound insulation than several thousand on big amps etc.

Perhaps some of the ICE experts out there could help with more details ?

Hi,

DynaMat would be the stuff John is talking about. It's like a dense rubber stuff with a sort of metal character to it that you stick onto the inside of panels such as doors and wings. Basically anywhere you can get to.
You would probably need a couple of rolls of the stuff, and up here in sunny(?) Aberdeen, it is £26.99 a roll, or £19.99 at the moment for the original stuff.
The company also do a spray called DynaShield, which is £14.99. This can be used instead of the matting, but isn't as good. Best bet is to use mat on most areas, and a bit of spray for the awkward bits, and this will help in sound-deadening the car from the outside world, but not eliminate it all together.

Best solution: ear plugs or a new missus perhaps?!
