Hello all.

I have forgotten the local admin password to a machine i am adding to a new domain.

The problem is that i have already dis-joines from the domain and only have access to the local machine now.

I need access to the machine under administrator to join the new domain, but don't know the password.

HELP PLEASE!

What's the o/s?

pbee 25 September 2003 06:47 PM

if its windows based os check out www.l0pht.com

if its unixed based you can boot from the os install cd create a new account and then copy the details for the password for the user you just created in the shadow file over the root passwords details you can now boot and login as root using your new user password.

cheers

I can mail you a Linux NT password changer if it helps?

Crouchy 25 September 2003 09:23 PM

David, my understanding with Win 2000/XP systems is that you can log on locally with whatever user you can get on with, but to join the computer to a domain you need admin rights on the domain you are trying to join? You are normally asked for a user id and password with authority to do this during the process....

I second ERD, expensive but bloody good

I know how to join the domain, problem is i can't get access now that i have dis-joined

Its windows 2000 and its about to get set on fire

Haxzer 26 September 2003 04:46 PM

Davie, give me your email address and I will email you a program that will sort it for you and let you re-set the LOCAL Admin password.
