I think most people favour 15w 50.
I'm sure someone will give you the answer you need. |
bit of a moot point, id put 15/ 50 in to, just to be safe!
|
At least 10/40 semi-synth, every 6500 mls is whats recommended in the handbook.I personally use Castrol RS 10/60 fully synth.

ive read that u shouldnt use 0/50 becuase its 2 thin 4 the turbo bearings [read this on another thread]so im now sh*ting it that im using a 2 thin oil....2 be honest im not sure what the meaning of the grading 5/50 ..10/50 etc can som1 explain this?
|
The first number means how thick the oil is when cold, i.e lower the number the thinner the oil is on start up.
Second number is how thick or thin the oil is when hot! i.e bigger the number the thicker the oil when hot. Don't know which is best for scoobys etc..... Hope this helps! Dave. |
Trying to simplify things as much as possible, a 15w/50 multigrade oil behaves like a 15 weight when it's cold, and like a 50 weight when it's up to temperature.
As asked elsewhere, what brand is this 5w/50 you bought? If it's a name brand full synth, it's not ideal, but you should be alright with it, especially as the weather's getting colder. Just make sure you don't go ragging the car on a cold engine, and change it for some of the recommended stuff at 3000 miles. If it's some unbranded "full synth" bought from your local Sunday market, change it at once as you have no idea what it really is... |
my scoobs done 38k and the oil is[cant remember the exact name but its made by comma]ill look tomorow and post its exact name.
