look on the siren under the bonnet, they usually have a model code or something like that printed on them?

For your insurance, given that it's not a standard Subaru one, you'll likely need a VSIB certificate which'll give model code, thatcham certifcation number and serial number.

If you haven't got one, go back and ask for one.

If they can't give you one (oo er), then make loud noises as you need it.

Looked at the Siren and no signs on it or anything, was told by the dealer that he didnt have any documentation with it, but I would be able to get another certificate from an installer.

Have spoken to a couple of alarm places and they will check the alarm over and issue a certificate, but it needs to be one they install, i.e. toad or clifford dealers, i.e. its no good me getting a clifford installer to look it over when its not a clifford alarm.

Get back to the dealer. He probably sold it as having a cat 1 alarm, and if he did then it needs paperwork otherwise he's broken the trades description act...

Sorry mate, I know that isn't terribly helpful, but I think it's your best line of attack at the moment!

Hope u get it sorted.
Cheers,
Nick.

If the top left button arms the system with a chirp, the bottom left button arms it silently and within 30 seconds of pressing either of these you press the two right hand buttons together the internal ultrasonics are disarmed it is probably an Avital Maxxx3.
This was a Cat 1 alarm produced by a division of Clifford. If it is an Avital Maxxx then I probably have a copy of the manual if you want it.

Nick, your right he did sell it as a Cat 1, but i just dont think i am going to get anything out of him, small independant dealer (probably a bit dodgy), also i didnt actually pay for the car ;), i swapped it for my skyline, so dont really think i have much comeback etc.

Just got the feeling that i am gonna have to end up paying out for a new Cat 1 just to get a certificate :(

is that not a toad key fob ??????

Rich Tee 25 September 2003 10:42 PM

everyones posting at the same time !!!!! getting confused

Shaggy I think you may have found it :) top left is chirped arm, bottom left is silent arm, havent tried the ultrasonics bit as i didnt know what any of the others do, manual would be really good if you could dig it out and do us a copy / scan etc, worth a couple of beers :)

NickBG, I originally thought it may have been a toad, but when i took it to a toad dealer he just looked very blankly at it shaking his head.

Ok, pretty much sorted now, got a clifford dealer to check it out, and got a certificate and manual for an avital maxxx3, so seems to be sorted, just need to try and work out what the valet code is :(

Cheers for the help guys
