Does anyone have or can anyone recommend a 4 Point Racing harness that will fit an STi7?

I've looked at the Safety Devices and Demon Tweeks Web-sites but the product choices are massive and I'm not sure what I should be going for....

Back on topic, but hijacking the thread slightly, I am about to fit a pair of prodrive wrc seats. Having never done this before, how does it work with sub-frames? Will they just bolt into the floor where the original runners attached? Or will I need to drill new holes in the floor? :eek:

If you are talking about real Prodrive/Sparco WRC seats, the frames are designed to be attached to tubular bearers that are welded transversely between the sills and transmission tunnel. Tried to find a pic to illustrate, but I think you can guess the layout pretty well.

You will either need to make new holes and bolt through the floor (probably with intermediate spacers as the floor isn't actually flat), or, ideally, have some bearers made and installed as per above. You may find someone like Safety Devices selling something like this ready to be welded in.

Think you can get a kit to adapt the siderails to a standard sliding arrangement, but don't profess to know whether there's one available for the Impreza.

Don't want to sound like a party pooper or anything, and apologies if I'm stating the obvious, but it's really worth taking the time/expense to do this properly. The reason rallycar seats are installed as above is that as well as isolating the seats from floor distortion caused by stone impacts, it's a lot stronger. If the fixings rip through the floor in an impact under stress from the belts and your weight, the consequences won't be nice.

For safety's sake, if you can't get a kit that will adapt the Sparco rails to fit the existing seat mounting areas, it might be worth getting someone with motorsport experience to advise, as if you do bolt them direct into the floor it'd be well worth getting some reinforcement (plating or very large washers) welded underneath to spread the load.

I'm using them for just general track day usage.

I need something to keep me in the seat since driving hard on normal roads is difficult enough since the normal belt just doesn't hold me in place....

I remember reading something on here a few months ago about the safty aspect involved with harnesses in the event of an accident.
i cant remember the details but it was something about not holding the driver in the seat in the event of an accident or roll.

Someone on here mite be able to tell you more about it

I've read it through after doing a search but I need to do something since I have to hang onto the steering wheel when thrapping through the twisties which is just too much like hard work when compared to other cars I've driven on the edge (Elise, F355 etc) - maybe I'm just a funny shape for the STi7 :D
