Sorry to read that - hope he is OK. But was he ever World Champion. I know he was GB champion but didn't think he got any further than that???

Scooby-Doo 22 September 2003 07:31 PM

He was WBC champ then immediately lost it.

David Lock 22 September 2003 11:31 PM

Mental health problems are far more common than society likes to think. Lets hope he gets good treatment and recovers fully.

Tiggs 22 September 2003 11:59 PM

since his marrige issues he did a few shows where he came accross as a bit of a thug.....in fact i got the impression that the bloke he would have become had he not found boxing lurked very close to the surface. sad that he's sick all the same.

in contrast to eubank who everyone loved to hate yet his recent tv stuff shows him as a nice bloke (if a little "excentric")

Why are people so surprised that cute n' cuddly Frank Bruno has a dark side to his personality? He was a boxer for goodness sake! They have to have a dark side in order to be able to go for the victory.

Hopefully he'll get some peace out of the limelight now, to get his life back in order. I do hope so.

i used to like Frank, but did anyone see the episode of "Celebrity Sleepover" that he was in?

What a miserable ****.

Bravo2zero_sps 23 September 2003 11:01 AM

I wish Frank a speedy recovery. Any bloke who has been through a messy and painful divorce and loss of kids will know the sort of sh!t he has had to deal with. I know when I went through it it nearly sent me over the edge. On top of this he has had to face the constant hounding and scrutinisation of the media. No wonder he is unable to deal with it mentally.

Frank not all of us think you are a tw@t and wish you well! (A fan who will never forget seeing you have that animal Tyson in a daze in the peak of his career!!! :D )

We met him a few years ago when he opened the southport flower show.

despite his managers protestations he came down to the local with us- got some really good photos of him with my old man.

he really is a true gent, and a really lovely guy. hope they get him sorted out.
